Removal and Replacement






Luggage Compartment Lid

Removal

Removing trunk lid




Open the trunk lid.

Remove:
- the trunk lid panel. See: Panel, luggage compartment lid
- the outer handle. See: External handle, luggage compartment lid Service and Repair
- the connector at the lock mechanism
- the 5 clips.
Remove the cable harness from the trunk lid.




Disconnect the 2 dampers for the trunk lid.

Note! Only disconnect the upper damper mounting.

Hint: Lift up the catch on the damper using a screwdriver. Then pull the damper straight out from the hinge.




Remove the 2 screws on each side.

Caution! To prevent damaging the paintwork, two people are needed for this procedure.

Lift out the trunk lid.

Transferring components





Transfer:
- the lock mechanism. See Door latch, luggage compartment lid Service and Repair
- the 2 adjustment screws. Turn the screws � turns to slacken them off.

Installation

Installing the trunk lid

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. [1][2]Body and Frame

Position the trunk lid. Install the 4 screws.

Caution! To prevent damaging the paintwork, two people are needed for this procedure.

Tighten the 4 M8 screws.
Press the 2 dampers into place.
Thread the cable harness through to the outer handle and the lock mechanism.

Install:
- the connector at the lock mechanism
- the outer handle. See: External handle, luggage compartment lid Service and Repair
- the trunk lid panel. See: Panel, luggage compartment lid .
