INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The front page gives the date of this edition and the edition it replaces
- The second page shows the tools needed for the installation and the contents of the installation kit
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section
- Cut out the text page in order to follow the illustrations and text at the same time.

Note!
- Points 1-27 apply to the V50
- Points 28-46 apply to the S40.

Preparatory work

Applies to the V50




- Turn the ignition key to position 0
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.




- Open the glove compartment
- Carefully pry off the panel inside the centre console. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool. The panel is secured by two clips on each of the short sides
- Pull the panel downwards.




- Remove the panel on the right-hand end of the dashboard. Carefully pry off the panel until the three clips release. Use a weatherstrip tool.

Note! Do not damage the dashboard.




- Remove the clip which holds the nozzle for the air duct on the right-hand side.




- Remove the five screws in the opening for the glove compartment
Note! The sound insulation on the driver's side must be removed on right hand drive cars.

It is located by a screw and two clips in the upper side and two screws in the underside of the dashboard. Disconnect the connector for the courtesy lighting.




- Remove the front section of the glove compartment by pulling backwards until the two clips at the upper edge release. Disconnect the two connectors from the top.




- Remove the sill trim panel from the right-hand front door. First pull off the front edge of the sill trim panel so that the clip there releases. Then continue backwards until the remaining clips on the underneath have released
- Unhook the sill trim panel from the B-post panel.





Applies to cars without a passenger compartment connector socket
- Push the floor carpet to one side in order to route the cable harnesses backward in the car.





Applies to cars with a passenger compartment connector socket
- Remove the locking sleeve over the cable splice in the passenger compartment connector socket
- Disconnect the cable from the passenger compartment connector socket
- Remove the passenger compartment connector socket from its bracket
- Push the floor carpet to one side in order to route the cable harnesses backward in the car.




- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.




- Pry off the four external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate
- Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel so that the two clips at that end release. Use a weatherstrip tool
- Pull up the sill trim panel so the remaining six clips release. Remove the panel
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the right-hand side panel in the boot opening.




- Fold the seat cushion and backrest on the right-hand side of the rear seat forward.




- Grasp the upper edge of the right-hand side cushion. Pull the side cushion forward so that the clip on the reverse releases
- Slide the side cushion up. Remove the side cushion
- Remove the screw at the rear edge of the panel at the front/top of the right-hand side panel
- Pull the panel upwards so that the four clips on the inside release. Remove the panel.




- Pull off the rubber strip at the rear of the opening for the right-hand rear door
- Carefully pry off the lower panel on the C-post on the right-hand side. Carefully pry at the top edge. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool
- Pull the panel on the C-post so that the two upper clips release. Then continue down until the last two clips release. Remove the panel on the C-post.




- Fold out the load securing eyelets on the right-hand side panel
- Insert a scriber with an angled tip into the holes in the top of the covers (1). Turn the scriber so that the tip engages the reverse of the covers. Pull the covers off
- Remove the screws in the load securing eyelets
- Remove the screw (2) at the front/top edge of the side panel
- Pull off the side panel at the top so that the two clips at the rear/bottom of the side window and the clip at the bottom of the D-post release
- Disconnect the connector for the 12V socket, if present
- Lift out the side panel.




- Remove the right-hand floor support. First remove the three clips at the bottom of the compartment, then lift it up.




- Remove the rear roof panel by pulling it downwards. The panel is secured by nine clips on the inside
- Release the connector from the interior lighting. Place the panel to one side.




- Carefully pry off the rubber trim strip at the D-post on the right-hand side
- Remove the D post panel on the right-hand side. First pull the panel off the bodywork where it is secured by 4 clips. Then unhook the upper edge from the headlining.




- Pull the top edge of the sill trim panel in the right-hand rear door inwards until the clips on the inside release. Then continue down and pull the panel upwards until the remaining two clips on the underside release.




- Pull off the rubber mouldings at the rear edge of the right-hand front door and at the front edge of the right-hand rear door. This releases the lower panel on the B-post
- Pull the bottom edge of the lower panel on the B-post until the two bottom clips release.

Installing the antenna




- Clean the surface where the inner base module is to be positioned using the cleaning cloth from the kit
- Wipe dry
- Remove the backing from the inner base module
- Position the inner base module horizontally on the side window, in line with the rear end of the headlining. The upper rear corner of the inner base module must be positioned edge to edge with the tinted area of the side widow as illustrated
- Press the base module into place.




- Install the antenna on the external base module.




- Clean the surface where the external base module is to be positioned using the cleaning cloth from the kit
- Wipe dry
- Remove the backing from the external base module. Press the external base module into place on the side window opposite the inner base module
- Press hard on points 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, in order, for 3-4 seconds
- Ensure that the tape is sealed around the external base module. For optimum adhesion, heat the glass. Use a hair dryer or similar.

Cable routing




- Route the antenna cable down along the existing wiring at the rear edge of the side window down to the rear edge of the wheel arch
- Remove the backing from the Velcro strips. Press the Velcro strips into place approximately as illustrated
- Press the antenna cable into the clamps.




- Continue to route the antenna cable along the side of the wheel arch, inside the insulation, under the floor carpets, inside the lower panel on the B-post to the location of the glove compartment.

Note! Ensure that the cable is positioned so that there is no risk of it catching or rubbing.








- Route the antenna cable (1) under the carpet on the right hand side of the front seat and forward to the short cable (2) in the large connector screwed to the centre console. If another antenna cable is already connected there disconnect that antenna cable and tie it up so that it will not rattle.

Note! On left hand drive cars when the phone is attached to the roof antenna it may be necessary to remove the sound insulation on the left hand side to access the antenna connector. It is located by a screw and two clips in the upper side and two screws in the underside of the dashboard. The connector for the courtesy lighting and air quality sensor must be removed.

- Connect both the connectors to each other.

Finishing work

- Fold the front seat carpet back into place
- Reinstall the passenger compartment connector socket if applicable
- Reinstall the lower B-post panel
- Reinstall the rubber trim strips at the lower B-post panel
- Reinstall the sill trim panel in the front door
- Connect the connectors to the glovebox / sound insulation. Reinstall the glovebox / sound insulation
- Reinstall the clip in the air vent
- Reinstall the end panel on the dashboard
- Reinstall the panel in front of the centre console
- Reinstall the sill trim panel in the rear door
- Reinstall the D-post panel
- Reinstall the rubber trim strip at the D-post panel
- Reconnect the connector. Reinstall the rear headlining
- Reinstall the floor support in the cargo compartment
- Reinstall the side panel in the cargo compartment. Tighten the screws for the load securing eyelets. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft)
- Reinstall the lower C-post panel
- Reinstall the rubber trim strips at the lower C-post panel
- Reinstall the side cushion
- Reinstall the backrest and seat cushions
- Reinstall the sill trim panel for the tailgate
- Reinstall the cargo compartment carpet
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.

Caution! Leave the car indoors for two hours after carrying out the work. To ensure optimum adhesion do not wash the car for 48 hours.

Preparatory work

Applies to the S40




- Turn the ignition key to position 0
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.




- Open the glove compartment
- Carefully pry off the panel inside the centre console. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool. The panel is secured by two clips on each of the short sides
- Pull the panel downwards.




- Remove the panel on the right-hand end of the dashboard. Carefully pry off the panel until the three clips release. Use a weatherstrip tool.

Note! Do not damage the dashboard.




- Remove the clip which holds the nozzle for the air duct on the right-hand side.




- Remove the five screws in the opening for the glove compartment
Note! The sound insulation on the driver's side must be removed on right hand drive cars.

It is located by a screw and two clips in the upper side and two screws in the underside of the dashboard. Disconnect the connector for the courtesy lighting.




- Remove the front section of the glove compartment by pulling backwards until the two clips at the upper edge release. Disconnect the two connectors from the top.




- Remove the sill trim panel from the right-hand front door. First pull off the front edge of the sill trim panel so that the clip there releases. Then continue backwards until the remaining clips on the underneath have released
- Unhook the sill trim panel from the B-post panel.





Applies to cars without a passenger compartment connector socket
- Push the floor carpet to one side in order to route the cable harnesses backward in the car.





Applies to cars with a passenger compartment connector socket
- Remove the locking sleeve over the cable splice in the passenger compartment connector socket
- Disconnect the cable from the passenger compartment connector socket
- Remove the passenger compartment connector socket from its bracket
- Push the floor carpet to one side in order to route the cable harnesses backward in the car.




- Fold the seat cushion and backrest on the right-hand side of the rear seat forward.




- Grasp the upper edge of the right-hand side cushion. Pull the side cushion forward so that the clip on the reverse releases
- Slide the side cushion upwards.




- Pull the top edge of the sill trim panel in the right-hand rear door inwards until the clips on the inside release
- Unhook the yellow clip from the panel. Unhook the lower edge of the panel from the bodywork.

- Pull off the rubber strip at the rear edge of the rear door
- Pull the lower C-post panel out until all four clips on the inside have released.

- Pull the sill trim panel for the right-hand rear door loose. It is located by one clip in the side and two clips underneath.

- Pull the centre C-post panel out until all three clips on the inside have released
- Remove the centre C-post panel by pulling inwards and bending it out.

Installing the antenna




- Clean the surface where the inner base module is to be positioned using the cleaning cloth from the kit
- Wipe dry
- Remove the backing from the inner base module
- Position the inner base module horizontally in the corner of the rear windshield, as close to the horizontal and vertical shading as possible. Press the inner base module into place
- Remove the backing from the Velcro strips. Press the Velcro strips into place approximately as illustrated
- Press the antenna cable into the clamps
- Route the antenna cable inside the gas generator to the inflatable curtains and down to the parcel shelf.




- Install the antenna on the external base module.




- Clean the surface where the external base module is to be positioned using the cleaning cloth from the kit
- Wipe dry
- Remove the backing from the external base module. Press the external base module into place on the side window opposite the inner base module
- Press hard on points 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, in order, for 3-4 seconds
- Ensure that the tape is sealed around the external base module. For optimum adhesion, heat the glass. Use a hair dryer or similar.

Cable routing




- Route the antenna cable down along the existing wiring on the parcel shelf, inside the insulation, to the right hand rear door sill. Route the antenna cable forward inside the floor carpets, the lower panel on the B-post and forward to the front edge of the door opening for the right hand front door
- Secure the wiring behind the C-post panels. Use three tie straps from the kit.

Note! Ensure that the cable is positioned so that there is no risk of it catching or rubbing.








- Route the antenna cable (1) under the carpet on the right hand side of the front seat and forward to the short cable (2) in the large connector screwed to the centre console. If another antenna cable is already connected there disconnect that antenna cable and tie it up so that it will not rattle.

Note! On left hand drive cars when the phone is attached to the roof antenna it may be necessary to remove the sound insulation on the left hand side to access the antenna connector. It is located by a screw and two clips in the upper side and two screws in the underside of the dashboard. The connector for the courtesy lighting and air quality sensor must be removed.

- Connect both the connectors to each other.

Finishing work

- Fold the front seat carpet back into place
- Reinstall the passenger compartment connector socket if applicable
- Reinstall the lower B-post panel
- Reinstall the rubber trim strips at the lower B-post panel
- Reinstall the sill trim panel in the front door
- Connect the connectors to the glovebox / sound insulation. Reinstall the glovebox / sound insulation
- Reinstall the clip in the air vent
- Reinstall the end panel on the dashboard
- Reinstall the panel in front of the centre console
- Reinstall the C-post panels and the sill trim panel in the rear door
- Reinstall the rubber trim strip in the rear door
- Reinstall the side cushion
- Reinstall the backrest and seat cushions
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
