Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The engine control module (ECM) checks that angle position of the camshafts (valve opening and closing angles) as compared to the crankshaft angle position, that is to say the camshaft position relative to the crankshaft position. If the camshaft angle position deviates from the expected angle position when the camshaft is totally returned to is original position, the engine control module (ECM) adapts the deviation. The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the deviation value becomes too high (high signal), too low (low signal) or is changed more than is permitted (faulty signal). The diagnostic trouble code is diagnosed by the engine control module (ECM) when the engine is warm and idling.

Substitute value
None.

Possible source

- Poor engine oil quality
- Incorrectly adjusted camshafts
- The timing gear belt has jumped off the cogs
- Damaged camshaft reset valve
- Mechanical fault in the variable valve timing (VVT) unit.

Signal too low
- Poor engine oil quality
- Incorrectly adjusted camshafts
- The timing gear belt has jumped off the cogs

Faulty signal
- Poor engine oil quality
- The timing gear belt has jumped off the cogs
- Damaged camshaft reset valve
- Mechanical fault in the variable valve timing (VVT) unit.
