Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition




The engine control module (ECM) checks that the angles of the camshafts (the opening and closing angles of the valves) correspond to the requested angles (target value).
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-640A (camshaft intake) or ECM-641A (camshaft exhaust) is stored if one of the camshaft angles does not correspond to the requested angle (target value) for the camshaft over a certain amount of time.
The extent of the deviation from the camshaft angle permitted by the engine control module (ECM) before a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored depends on the engine operating conditions.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is diagnosed by the engine control module (ECM) when the engine is running and the camshaft control is active.

Possible source

Faulty control:
- Low oil pressure
- Poor oil quality
- Damaged reset valve
- Mechanical fault in the variable valve timing (VVT) unit.
