Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module registers that the signal for the camshaft reset valve is too low, too high or missing. ECM-6400 refers to camshaft intake. ECM-6410 refers to camshaft exhaust.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed at ignition on and with the engine running.
Substitute value
- Camshaft control switched off.
Possible source
Signal too high
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
- Damaged camshaft reset valve.
Signal too low
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- Damaged camshaft reset valve.
Signal missing
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Open-circuit in the signal cable
- Open-circuit in the voltage supply cable
- Damaged camshaft reset valve.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
