Checking the wiring
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connectors for the front loudspeakers
- Disconnect the 16-pin connector for the audio module (AUD).
Hint: Certain systems may have two loudspeakers connected on the same signal cable, one treble loudspeaker/upper loudspeaker and one front loudspeaker. For further information, see the wiring diagram.
Check the cable terminals in the female and male sections of the connector. The cable terminals must not be damaged or pressed back.
Check the signal cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Audio module (AUD) terminal #B1 and loudspeaker terminal #2 in the left front door
- Audio module (AUD) terminal #B9 and loudspeaker terminal #1 in the left front door
- Audio module (AUD) terminal #B3 and loudspeaker terminal #2 in the right front door and the front right treble loudspeaker
- Audio module (AUD) terminal #B11 and loudspeaker terminal #1 in the right front door.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Check that there is sound heard from the loudspeakers for the audio module (AUD) by trying the FM/AM radio, CD or MD player.
