Cable key interlock, replacing

Removal

Preparations





Remove the center console.

Remove:
- the steering column covers
- the soundproofing panel on the left-hand side.

Removing the mechanical cable from the ignition switch





Move the gear shift lever to position P.

Turn the ignition key to position I or II.

Depress the lock button and pull the cable out of the ignition switch.

Removing mechanical cable from gear selector assembly
Pry out the yellow locking sleeve slightly (use a screwdriver).

Lift the cable from the gear selector assembly.





Removing the mechanical cable from the steering column





The cable is located in a clip on a bracket at the steering column and a clip in the climate control system.

Installation

Installing the mechanical cable






Note: Start installation from the ignition switch.

Route the cable down along the steering wheel bracket and under the climate control system.

Secure the cable in its clips at the bracket and climate control system.

Installing the mechanical cable on the mounting for the gear selector assembly





Route the cable along the gear selector cable to the gear selector assembly.

Connect the cable to the gear selector assembly mounting and the lever adjustment.

Initial setting of the key lock cable (adjusting)
Make the initial setting.

Finishing work





Install the steering shaft covers.

Install the center console.

Install the soundproofing panel.
