NOTE:
RETAILER MUST CONFIRM VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY IN VRC2 PRIOR TO BEGINNING RECALL CAMPAIGN REPAIRS.

DESCRIPTION:
Certain model year 2003 S60 and V70 vehicles do not meet the requirements of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions control requirements for fault detection of a certain fault in the Engine Management System.

This condition will not affect the driveability, safety or performance of the vehicle.

However, the inability of the system to detect this fault could cause the vehicle to fail a required state inspection or Smog Check test.
This condition only applies to certain vehicles registered in California, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine and New York.

The corrective action will be an upgrade of the Engine Control Module (ECM) Leakage Detection software.

SERVICE:
Upgrade Engine management software (SW) using the ECM upgrade option in the VADIS Software manager. SW product # 30677021
