Checking D+ signal from generator (GEN)




- Ignition on.
- Read off status of D+ signal from generator (GEN). Make a note of the status.
- Start engine.
- Read off status of D+ signal from generator (GEN).
With ignition on the status should be OFF and with engine at idling speed (generator (GEN) charging) the status should be ON.

Note! If the charging system is malfunctioning then carry out fault-tracing on the charging system first.

Check the status reading is correct.





Is the D+ signal OK?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking cables

Checking cables
Check ECC control module connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check signal cable between ECC control module #B3 and generator (GEN) terminal D+ for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Note! An open-circuit on the signal cable between ECC control module #B3 and connector 24/13 can be caused by the signal cable short-circuiting to ground or supply. Always check the signal cable for this fault according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
