Checking the rear fog lamp

Checking the relay
Check the function of relay 2/49: Activate and deactivate the relay a number of times. The relay is functioning if there is a clicking sound when the relay is activated and deactivated.
Replace with a new relay if the relay does not function.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
Check that fuse 11D/2 is intact.
Check that shunt 20/29 is not damaged. The resistance between the terminal pins is 0 ohm to 5 ohms depending on which pin the reading is taken at.

Check the cables between:
fuse 11D/2 terminal #2 and rear electronic module terminal #4E
shunt 20/29 terminal #2 and relay 2/49 terminal #5
relay 2/49 terminal #3 and the left or right lower lamp housing terminal #3
for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between the left or right lower lamp housing terminal #4 and the ground terminal for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that the bulbs are intact.
Remedy as necessary.

- Shunt 20/29 is marked SH2 on the integrated relay/fusebox in the cargo compartment. Terminal #2 on the shunt can be identified on the reverse of the integrated relay/fusebox.
