TCM-0118

TCM-0118 Throttle Solenoid SLT
Signal Too Low. Permanent Fault
Signal Too Low. Intermittent Fault

Condition
Throttle solenoid SLT controls the line pressure in the transmission. The solenoid is controlled by a power stage in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) output. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) uses the power stage to control the current to the solenoid. A low amperage results in a high line pressure. A high amperage (approximately 1 A) results in a low line pressure. The amperage is primarily affected by the throttle position. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) TCM-0118 is stored if the control module registers a short-circuit to ground in the solenoid SLT circuit. Solenoid SLT cannot then control the line pressure.

Substitute value
- The Transmission Control Module (TCM) "Emergency mode 1" program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to ground in the control signal cable or the signal cable.
- Defective solenoid SLT.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lit.
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear shifting.

Hint: The shifting may be harsh if there is no request for torque limiting to the engine control module (ECM) during shifting.
