TCM-0103 Shift Solenoid S3, Signal too Low

Condition
Shift solenoids S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5 operate in tandem to control gear-shifting. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) TCM-0003, TCM 0009, TCM-0103, TCM-0109 or TCM-01OC are stored if the Transmission Control Module (TCM) registers that there is a short circuit to ground in circuits S1, S2, S3, S4 or S5 when the solenoid should be activated.

Substitute value
- The Transmission Control Module (TCM) "Emergency mode 1" program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable.
- Defective solenoid.
- Internal fault in the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear shifting.
- No shifting.
