TCM-0045

TCM-0045 Oil Temperature Sensor, Faulty Signal

Condition
The oil temperature sensor sends a signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which is used for functions such as temperature controlled lockup and initiating high-temperature programs. The sensor has an Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) TCM-0045 is stored if the Transmission Control Module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor which has not changed after the engine has run for 10 minutes.

Substitute value
- No substitute values.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Open-circuit in signal cable or ground lead.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Defective oil temperature sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
