Carry out the check by raising the car so the wheels hang freely. Drive carefully using a suitable gear. Lightly apply the hand brake during the check.

Possible source
- The coupling sleeve between the transmission and the bevel gear is faulty
- Faulty bevel gear
- Faulty viscous coupling
- Faulty rear axle
- Rear drive shaft(s) is/are faulty.

Fault symptom[s]
- The rear wheels are not driven
- No four wheel drive.
