Bushing, brake pedal, replacing

Preparations





Remove:
- the soundproofing panel. See Master cylinder, replacing, B5254T2, M58, B5244T5, M66, B5254T2, M56 R.H.D.
- the clip for the push rod.

Remove the relay box from its bracket




Pry the bracket apart. Pull the relay box downwards. Move the relay box to one side.

Remove the brake pedal




Slacken off the screw (1). Leave it in place.
Remove the screw (2). Counterhold the nut (3) with a wrench.
Fold down the pedal to the right and remove it.

Replace the bushing




Act on the nut so that shaft bushing releases from the brake pedal.
Replace both the bushings.
Check the push rod bushing. Replace if necessary
Lubricate the new bushings with grease. P/N 1161241-3.
Install the bushings on the brake pedal.
Install shaft bushing.
Wipe off excess grease.

Install the brake pedal





Install:
- the brake pedal in its bracket and the screw (1)
- the screw (2). Counterhold the nut (3). Tighten the screws. Tighten to 40 Nm.

Install the push rod and the clip on the brake pedal





Check that the stop lamp functions
Adjust the stop lamp switch if necessary. See Stop lamp switch, replacing Service and Repair.

Install the relay box in its bracket. Install the soundproofing panel





Install:
- the relay box in its bracket
- the soundproofing panel.
