Connecting the breakout box to the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor
- Ignition off
- Expose the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor. See Steering wheel module (SWM), replacing Service and Repair
- Disconnect the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor by pressing in the lock catch and pull the connector straight outwards
- Check the control module and control module connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are undamaged and secure (cannot be pressed in). Check that the cables to the female terminals are secured to the terminal pins
- In particular, check the terminal pins relevant to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) / symptom. See Signal description.
- Connect adapter 951 1463 Adapter 22-16-14 pin 951 1463 Adapter 22-16-14 Pin to the control module connector (wiring side). Connect breakout box 951 1428 Breakout box 951 1428 Breakout Box to the adapter. Terminals #1 - #16 on the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor correspond to terminals (#A25 - (#A40 on the breakout box
- The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals when the control module is connected; and cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.
