INTRODUCTION
NOTE: Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
Protective cover, cargo compartment
Preparations
- Pull the strap at the rear edge of the seat cushion upwards and forward. Fold the seat cushion for the rear seat forward on the right and left hand sides.
Applies to the V70XC
- Fold the centre seat cushion forward in the rear seat.
- Fold the rear backrest forward on both the right and left-hand sides.
Applies to the V70XC
- Fold the centre rear seat backrest forward.
Installing, the protective cover

- Position the protective cover in the cargo compartment as illustrated.
- Install the four elastic straps at the corners of the protective cover around the mounting lugs in the cargo compartment as illustrated.

- Spread the protective cover out over the reverse of the rear backrests.
- Insert the front rigid edge of the protective cover completely under the rear backrest panel. If necessary, use a small screwdriver or a weatherstrip tool to pry the panel up.
- If necessary laterally adjust the protective cover.
- Open the rear folding side panel in the cargo compartment.
- Install the rear corner of the protective cover on the upper section of the folding panel.
Ensure that the protective cover does not block the opening mechanism for the panel.
- Fold the panel back into position. Secure the panel
- Repeat the operation on the other side.
- Remove the backing from all the Velcro strips on the inside of the protective cover.
- Align the upper edge of the protective cover so that it is directly under the lower edge of the side panel as illustrated.
- Press the upper edge of the protective cover onto the Velcro strips so that it attaches to the upholstery for the side panel.
- Repeat the operation on the other side of the cargo compartment.
NOTE: The Velcro strips consist of two sections. One section that should remain on the protective cover and one section that should be detached and be positioned on the side panel for the cargo compartment.
- Fold down the upper edge of the protective cover slightly where the Velcro strip is positioned. Press the Velcro strip positioned on the side panel hard. At the same time carefully pull off both Velcro strips from each other.
- Repeat this operation with all the other Velcro strips on the protective cover.
- Mark out holes for drilling for installing the Velcro strip for the side panel. First make a hole in the centre of the Velcro strip hole and through the side panel. Use a pointed object. Enlarge the holes slightly in order to find them when drilling.
- Carry out the operation on all Velcro strips.
- Push the end of the Velcro strip over the hole to one side.
- Drill out the hole. Use a Dia. 7.5 mm (19/64") drill bit with a 25 mm (1") drill stop.
- Remove any swarf.
- Carry out the operation on all Velcro strips.
- Fold the Velcro strip back over the drilled hole.
- Press a clip (from the kit) through the Velcro strip and the hole in the panel.
NOTE: Do not press the centre of the clip. Hold the edges.
- Lock the clip by pressing the centre.
- Carry out the operation on all Velcro strips.
- Press the protective cover into place against the Velcro strips along the upholstery for the side panel.
Finishing work
- Fold the rear backrests up. At the same time insert the protective cover in the gap between the backrests and the front edge of the cargo compartment floor as illustrated.
