CD changer 10 CD (Continued)
Connection in the fuse holder
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Press in the catches on the rear brown connector in the fuse holder in the cargo compartment. Turn up the lock arm as far as possible. Pull out the connector.
- Carefully pull apart the sides of the holder for the connector at the ends so that the connector can pass by the catches
- Pull the connector out.
- Position the red/white (R/W) single cable with the larger cable terminal facing backwards along the cable. Insulate the cable. Secure the cable using the foam tape from the kit. It must not come into contact with the chassis.
- Connect the pre-routed red/white (R/W) cable to position 8 in the connector
- Reinstall the connector in the holder. Reinstall the entire unit in the fuse holder.
Installing and connecting the CD changer
- Check that the catches (1, 2) point towards the mark V, (vertical position). If not, move the catches to mark V.
- Remove the transport screws (1, 2)
- Install the dust cover (3) over the holes for the transport screws.
- Install the CD changer in the bracket (1). Use the screws (2) from the kit.
- Position the CD changer and bracket at the left-hand rear wheel arch
- Connect the blue connector (1) from the routed power supply cable to the CD changer
- Connect the DIN cable (2) to the CD changer.
- Install a new spring nut (from the kit) in the front mounting for the CD changer and bracket if there is not already a welded nut there
- Position the CD changer and bracket behind the left-hand wheel arch. Tighten using new screws from the kit
Applies to cars with rear acceleration sensors:
- Remove the acceleration sensor behind the left-hand wheel arch
- Install the CD changer as above. At the same time, reinstall the acceleration sensor in the same rivet nut and screw as before. The sensor must be above the bracket for the CD changer. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.).
Note! The acceleration sensor must be securely installed with the connector turned upwards. If the sensor is not secure, movement may result in false values. This could result in poor system performance when cornering for example.
Applies to all models
- Position the CD changer and bracket behind the left-hand wheel arch. Tighten using new screws from the kit.
- Clamp the wiring at the cable harness. Clamp it by the fuse holder, by the hole in the flange at the rear edge of the wheel arch and at the plastic hose at the front edge of the wheel arch. Use tie straps (1).
Finishing work
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Insert the radio in the radio tray. Connect the CD changer connector and the other connectors to the radio
- Connect the connectors to the carphone keypad if applicable
- Reinstall the bracket with the radio. Tighten the bracket and radio using the screws (1)
- Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel. Reinstall the dashboard environment panel
- Reinstall the panel in front of the gear selector lever.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Connect the CD changer connector and the other connectors to the radio
- Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel
- Connect the connectors to the carphone keypad if applicable
- Reinstall the radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console. Tighten using the two screws
- Reinstall the panel around the gear selector lever.
Applies to all models
- Fold the carpet back into place
- Reinstall the side panel on the centre console. Reinstall the sill trim panels
- Fold the left-hand front seat back into position. Install new screws from the kit. Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lbf. ft.). Reinstall the covers
- Reinstall the side cushions in the rear seat
- Fold the rear seat cushion and backrest back into position.
- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Install the new left-hand side panel and the new folding panel from the kit
- Reinstall the storage box. Fold back both the floor hatches
- Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
Points 36-56 apply to cars with RTI: Preparations
- Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the storage box from under the rear floor hatch by turning the clip on the left and right-hand sides 90°. Lift out the box.
- Remove the left-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the left-hand front side panel. First remove the cover and the screw from the front edge
- Pull the top of the panel out until the clips release
- Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out.
- Cut off the protruding plastic flange. Use a hacksaw. See the illustration.
Cable routing
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Fold the left rear seat cushion (1) and backrest (2) forward.
- Pull the upper edges of the left-hand side cushion backwards and lift the cushion. Remove the cushion.
- Fold up the insulation panel so to access the ground terminal in the rear seat
- Take the power supply cable for the CD changer from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the front ground terminal (1) in the rear seat. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.)
- Route the DIN cable and the power supply cable to the right-hand side of the air duct (2), under the wiring. Continue up along the left-hand side of the wheel arch and to the left-hand side of the rear crossmember. See the illustration.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Take the cable (1) for power supply from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the existing ground terminal behind the battery. Tighten the screw. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.). Position the red/white (R/W) single cables (2) and the two green connectors (2) by the rear fuse holder
- Route the cable harness on the left-hand side of the cable duct. The cable with the blue connector (3) must be routed to the pre-routed connector for the DIN cable.
Installing and connecting the CD changer
- Check that the catches (1, 2) point towards the mark V, (vertical position). If not, move the catches to mark V.
- Remove the transport screws (1, 2)
- Install the dust cover (3) over the holes for the transport screws.
- Install the CD changer in the bracket (1). Use the screws (2) from the kit.
- Position the CD changer and bracket at the left-hand rear wheel arch
- Connect the blue connector (1) from the routed power supply cable to the CD changer
- Connect the extra provided DIN cable (2) to the CD changer.
- Install a new spring nut (from the kit) in the front mounting for the CD changer and bracket if there is not already a welded nut there.
Applies to cars with rear acceleration sensors
- Remove the acceleration sensor behind the left-hand wheel arch
- Install the CD changer as above. At the same time, reinstall the acceleration sensor in the same rivet nut and screw as before. The sensor must be above the bracket for the CD changer. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.).

- Position the CD changer and bracket behind the left-hand wheel arch. Tighten using new screws from the kit.
- Remove the two clips (1). Remove the protective cover from the DVD reader.
- Remove the three screws (1) holding the bracket with the DVD reader. Turn the bracket and DVD reader.
- Applies to cars with RTI/DVD and without TV: Connect the DIN cable (2), which was connected to the CD changer in point 46, to the DVD reader.
- Position the two red/white (R/W) single cables back along the cable. Insulate the cables. Secure the cables using the foam tape from the kit. They must not come into contact with the chassis. The two green connectors must not be connected.
- Disconnect the connector for the DVD power supply (1)
- Connect the connector for the CD changer power supply to the DVD unit (2)
- Connect the connector previously removed from the DVD unit to the other connector (3) for the CD changer
- Replace the fuse in fuse holder 10 in the rear electronic module (REM) with a 5A fuse
- Connect the DIN cable to the DVD unit. The DIN cable is connected to the TV unit in cars which have a TV unit
- Reinstall the DVD reader and bracket. Tighten using the three screws
- Reinstall the protective cover for the DVD reader.
Applies to cars with RTI/DVD and TV
- Route the DIN cable, which was connected to the CD changer, along the wheel arch under the rubber insulation and under the TV receiver. See the illustration
- Connect the DIN cable to the TV receiver. Secure the cable at the existing cable harness from the TV receiver
- Tape any excess wiring at various places to prevent rattles.
Finishing work
Applies to cars with RTI/DVD without TV
- Secure the DIN cable and any excess at the cable harness under the fuse holder. Use a tie strap (1)
- Clamp any cable excess.
Applies to all models
- Clamp any cable excess.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Fold the insulation panel back into place. Reinstall the side cushion. Position the backrest and seat cushions back into place.
Applies to all models
- Reinstall the left-hand side panel. Reinstall the folding panel
- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the storage box. Fold back both the floor hatches
- Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
