Signal Faulty. Permanent Fault
Signal faulty. Permanent fault
Checking the connectors
- Ignition off.
- Check rear electronic module (REM) and left and right boot lighting connector for contact resistance and oxidation as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and loose contact as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults. Check especially for damage.
- Do the necessary corrective action.
- Install the components, connect the connectors, etc.
- Ignition on.
Read the status of the diagnostic trouble code.
If the status is now intermittent, fault was caused by a poor contact in the connectors.
Additional information:
- To access the boot lighting, see Bulb, cargo compartment lighting, replacing Service and Repair
- To disconnect the rear electronic module connector (REM), see Integrated relay/fusebox cargo compartment/Rear electronic module (REM), replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing.
Is the status intermittent?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Checking the wires and components

Checking the wires and components
Check the wires between rear electronic module (REM) B22 ( E2) and left and right boot lighting 2 for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , short circuit to ground as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and short circuit to voltage supply as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check ground wires between left and right boot lighting 4 and ground point for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Do the necessary corrective action.
Additional information:
- To access the boot lighting, see Bulb, cargo compartment lighting, replacing Service and Repair
- To disconnect the rear electronic module connector (REM), see Integrated relay/fusebox cargo compartment/Rear electronic module (REM), replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing
- To connect the test box, see
- With boot lid open, voltage between left and right boot lighting 2 and ground should be approximately 12V.
