Checking for permanent or intermittent faults




- Ignition on.
Check if the lamp in the power door mirror lights up and goes out.





Is the lamp in the power door mirror working?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking for a short-circuit

Checking for a short-circuit

If the car is equipped with a 10-pin connector
Check the cable between door control module terminal #8B and power door mirror terminal #6 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Replace the cable if a fault is found.

If the car is equipped with a 16-pin connector
Check the cable between door control module terminal #8B and power door mirror terminal #13 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Replace the cable if a fault is found.

Were any faults found in the cable?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the component

Replacing the component
Check that there are no short circuits in the bulb holder.
Remedy as necessary.
If no fault is found, replace the lamp in the power door mirror according to Bulb, ground lighting, door mirror, replacing Bulb, Ground Lighting, Door Mirror, Replacing.

Check the control module and power door mirror connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults , check for loose connections according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.

If the car is equipped with a 10-pin connector
Check the cable between door control module terminal #8B and power door mirror terminal #6 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults , check for an intermittent open circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.

If the car is equipped with a 16-pin connector
Check the cable between door control module terminal #8B and power door mirror terminal #13 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults , check for an intermittent open circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the lamp and bulb holder if no faults were found.

- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
Check that electric rear-view mirror lamp comes on.





Does lamp for electric rear-view mirror come on?
