Checking the relay
Check that relay 2/35 is correctly installed.
Check the relay terminals.
Check the resistance of the relay coil.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the 20-pin connector (group A) from the central electronic module (CEM).
- Pull out the starter motor relay.
Check the signal cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminal #3A and starter motor relay 2/35 terminal #1 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect connectors, install components, etc.
- Disconnect the starter motor connector.
- Try to start the engine with the gear lever in any position other than P or N.
- Connect the starter motor connector.
Check that diagnostic trouble code status changes from permanent to intermittent.
Is the diagnostic trouble code status intermittent?
