SAS-E003: Communication With Control Unit
Configuration Fault, Permanent Fault
Configuration Fault, Intermittant Fault

Condition

The control units communicate with each other via a standardized serial method of communication - Controller Area Network (CAN) - to exchange information. Control units send and receive information. If the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor (SAS) control unit registers that communication is interrupted or no longer functions, diagnostic trouble code SAS-E003 will be stored.

Substitute value
- No CAN communication.
- ABS function not activated.

Possible source
- Wrong software in steering wheel control unit.
- Wrong software in one of the vehicle's control units.
- Wrong software in the central electronic control unit.

Note! If several control units store a diagnostic trouble code for the same fault it is likely that the software in the central electronic control unit is incorrect.

Fault symptom[s]
- Anti-spin warning lamp is on.
- Stabilizing function not working
