SAS-0046
SAS-0046: Steering Wheel Angle Signal B
Signal Missing, Permanent Fault
No Signal, Intermittant Fault
Condition
The steering wheel angle sensor has two circuits each with 4 LEDs and 4 receptors which read off the position of their individual code wheel. One circuit measures the steering wheel angle and the other measures steering wheel revolutions. If the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor (SAS) control unit registers that steering wheel angle signal B is missing, diagnostic trouble code SAS-0046 will be stored.
Substitute value
- Stabilizing function disconnected.
- Anti-spin function blocked.
Possible source
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector of the steering wheel angle sensor control unit or the Steering Wheel Control Unit (SWM).
- Open circuit in the signal wires.
- Internal fault in control unit.
Fault symptom[s]
- Anti-spin warning lamp is on.
- Stabilizing function not working.
- Anti-spin does not work.
