Condition

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) REM-4A40 is stored if the rear electronic module registers that the signal on the signal cable from the gas temperature sensor is too high.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) REM-4A40 can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute value

- The fuel level is set to zero.

Possible source

- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Open-circuit in the signal cable.
- Defective gas temperature sensor.

Fault symptom[s]

- The fuel level gauge does not function.
- The trip computer displays an empty fuel tank too early.
