Condition

For the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to be stored, neither the ignition switch lighting or the stop (brake) lamp may be activated.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) CEM-8D01 is stored if the central electronic module (CEM) indicates a short-circuit to ground in the high level additional stop (brake) lamp or the ignition ring lighting.

Possible source

- Over heated.
- Short-circuit to ground in the circuit for the ignition switch or the stop (brake) lamp circuit.
- Defective high level stop (brake) lamp.

Fault symptom[s]

- The stop (brake) lamp does not light when the brake pedal is depressed.
