CEM-6C49

Condition

With the ignition on, the Central Electronic Module (CEM) does a transponder reading. If the transponder responds with a known transponder code but part of the transponder communication is faulty or fails, diagnostic trouble code CEM-6C49 is displayed.

Possible source

- Several similar keys are used to ensure that several transponder codes have been read during transponder reading. The result is an unknown code which is a combination of several keys' transponder codes.
- EMC interference (powerful electrical fields) during communication stage (at start).
- The ignition key belongs to another vehicle. The transponder code corresponds but the security code does not match this vehicle's security code.

- The engine will not start. (The starter motor does not work.).
