Removing the sealing ring
Lever the sealing ring off the crown wheel shaft.
Use a screwdriver or a jimmy bar.
Installing a new sealing ring
Install the new sealing ring for the drive shaft.
Lubricate the seal with wheel bearing grease, P/N 1161241-3.
Use drift 999 5654. Tap in the ring to stop.
If also replacing the seal for the crown wheel shaft, proceed to Sealing ring for crown wheel shaft for bevel gear, replacing.

Sealing ring for crown wheel shaft for bevel gear, replacing
Marking the position of the adjustment nut
Mark the position of the adjustment nut in relation to the housing with a scriber.
Measure the height between the nut and housing. Make a note of the measurement.
Remove screw and split pin.
Removing the adjustment nut
Remove the adjustment nut. Use wrench 999 5371.
Removing the sealing ring
Tap out the sealing ring.
Use a screwdriver.
Installing the sealing ring
Install the sealing ring for the adjustment nut.
Lubricate the sealing ring lip with wheel bearing grease, P/N 1161241-3.
Use drift 999 5655. Tap in the seal until the drift reaches the nut.
Install a new O-ring on the nut. Lubricate the O-ring and threads with wheel bearing grease as above.
Installing the adjustment nut
Install the adjustment nut.
Use wrench 999 5371. Turn the propeller shaft when the nut is tightened to its previously measured position.
Checking marking
Check that the marking corresponds exactly.
Check the height.
Install the split pin. Tighten the screw. Tighten to 50 Nm.

Check the oil level in the bevel gear.
