Checking the mechanical transmission cable for longitudinal travel and gear selector assembly

Checking the mechanical transmission cable
Check the mechanical transmission cable function as follows.
- Disconnect the mechanical transmission cables from the transmission
- Check that the cables run smoothly.
Note!The mechanical transmission cable that transfers longitudinal travel (secured directly in the gear selector lever) should be slightly stiffer in its sleeve than the other cable
- Check cable routing
- Check that the lever moves freely in all gears.
If the mechanical transmission cable is stiff or incorrectly installed replace it.

Checking the gear selector assembly
Check the gear selector assembly function as follows.
- Disconnect the mechanical transmission cables from the transmission
- Check that the gear selector lever moves smoothly.
If the gear selector lever is stiff grease the pivot ball and joints. If that does not help, replace the gear selector assembly.
