Gear selector lever assembly, replacing

Removal

Removing the center console
Remove the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.

Removing gear selector lever knob
Remove the gear selector lever knob.
For vehicles -2004, as described in Replacing the gear selector lever knob Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.
For vehicles 2005-, as described in Gear selector lever knob, replacing, M58, M56, B5244T5, M66 Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector assembly and cables





Remove:
- the catch at the gear selector
- the connector on the lever bracket.
Lift the front mounting for the mechanical cable out of the front edge of the lever bracket.
Fold up the gear selector assembly. Remove the catch from the gear selector lever.
Lift the front mounting for the mechanical cable out of the lever bracket. Remove the gear selector assembly.
Transfer the support sleeve from the gear selector lever.

Installation

Installing the cables and gear selector assembly





Install:
- the mechanical cables on the levers on the gear selector assembly. Use the catches
- the mechanical cables on the gear selector nose
- the gear selector assembly on the body. Tighten to 25 Nm
- the connector on the gear selector assembly.

Installing gear selector knob
Install the gear selector lever knob.

For vehicles 2005-, as described in Gear selector lever knob, replacing, M58, M56, B5244T5, M66 Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Installing the center console
Install the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.
