Final drive gear whine Background

A whining noise from the final drive can occur at speeds up to 120 km/h (75 mph). The whining occurs when accelerating gently or when engine braking. The noise is heard at operating temperature but can also be heard when the final drive is cold. As a service solution it is recommended that a weight is installed on the rear axle and that softer bushings are installed.
