Checking Low Beam
Checking low beam
Checking the wiring and the relay
Check the signal cables to the low beam. Check for an open-circuit. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the relay (2/62).
Hint: The voltage over the relay must be 12 V on pins #1 and #3 when the low beam is switched on.
Check the cable between terminal #3 and fuse 2, fusebox in the engine compartment (11B/2).
Check that fuse is intact.
Check the connector.
Check the cable between relay #1 (2/62) and shunt low beam #3 (20/27).
Check shunt (20/27).
Hint: The voltage must be 12 V at the shunt terminals, i.e. #3 and #2.
Check the cable between shunt low beam #2 (20/27) and fuses low beam.
Check that the fuses are intact.
Hint: Passenger compartment fuse no. 1 for left low beam and no. 2 for right low beam.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the wiring for the lamp housing
Check the signal cables to the low beam. Check for an open-circuit. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the cable between the passenger compartment fuse and terminal #3 of the lamp housing for each headlamp.
For the left low beam, check lamp housing 10/1.
For the right low beam, check 10/2.
Check the ground supply between lamp housing #1 and the ground terminal.
Also check the connectors: 54/3L, 54/4.
Remedy as necessary.
If no fault was found, replace the lamp housing.
