Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes






Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Additional heater

Conditions




Preparations
Before erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) all indicated faults must be corrected.

Note! To obtain the correct communication with the control module during the procedure the instructions concerning the ignition switch position must be followed.

Select 1 to continue erasing.
Select 2 to interrupt erasing.

1 - Erase

2 - Abort

- Ignition on.




- Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Continue - Activating the heater

Activating the heater




- Ignition on.

Note! It is important that only the ignition is on in order for the heater to start.

- Activate the heater.
A buzzing sound must be heard from the heater
- Allow the heater to run for at least 2 minutes.
Check the function of the heater according to Engine coolant heater, test running Engine Coolant Heater, Test Running.

Stop the heater.

- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
- Make a note if any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored.

There should be no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during repair work.
Check that all connectors and components have been correctly connected.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during incorrectly performed repair work
Check that fault-tracing has been carried out correctly according to the relevant fault-tracing instructions.
It is possible to interrupt or make a new attempt to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
