Power Seat - Movement on Acceleration/Deceleration

Electrically operated seat, minimizing movement

Background
Intermittently the customer might experience minimal fore and aft movement during acceleration and deceleration, when driving a car equipped with power seats.

Preparations

Position the seat so that all the mounting points of the seat are accessible and can be loosened. Ensure that the front edge of the seat is in the uppermost position before loosen the power seat.

Warning!
If for any reason the seat must be disconnected or taken out of the vehicle, the ground lead 9511522 must be connected to the seat frame when disconnecting the power supply. Failing to ground the seat may result in injury from a deploying SIPS bag.

Loosen and tilting the seat





Remove:

- the panels above the front screws for the seat mounting (B). Pull straight upwards,

- the two screws for the front mounting (C),

- the panels above the rear screws for the seat mounting (A). Pull 45° upwards/backwards,

- the two screws for the rear mountings.

- wiring connectors.

Caution!
Make sure not to damage any other part when removing/tilting the seat.

Hint:
For better access remove the seat from the car and place it, for example, on a table. Position the table close to the door opening so that the seat belt does not have to be loosened.

Installing the clamp





Position the bracket with the clamp (1) around the SIPS tube. Ensure that the locator (2) is inserted in the front beam on the seat frame and the mounting for the steel wire mesh (3).

Secure the screw in the hole. Tighten the screw (4). Tighten to 10 Nm (7 ft.lb.).

Removing the screw





Remove the screw (1), between the seat rail and the seat motor. Discard the screw.

Preparation





Install a new screw (3). Screw until 5 mm of the thread is shown from the gear case.

Remove the forward screws (1) for the high adjustment.

Installing the bracket

Lift in the forward section of the chair.





Install the lower part of the bracket (1) on the new screw. Tighten the screw (3) and nut (2). Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft.lb).

Note!
Check that the bracket and mounting for the clamp are in a straight line.

Note!
Check the function of the circlip.

Press the forward section of the chair.





Install the screws (1) for the high adjustment.

Installing the seats

Caution!
Ensure that no wires are pinched or/and chafing at any point while re-installing the seat





Re-install the front seat to the floor board.

Install screws for the seat and tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft.lb).

Reinstall all other removed parts in reverse order.

Warning!
Check that the seat belt reels in/out properly.

Carry out a test of the seats all adjustment with attention to the high adjustment.
