Note! In certain cases, the car can already be pre-wired with DIN-cable. If this is the case, make sure that there is a brown ground cable. If there is no brown ground cable, then kit cable A must be used.
- Move the left-hand front seat to its rear position.
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- On cars with manual gearbox: Remove the ignition key.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

- Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Pry off the panel using a plastic weatherstrip tool.
- Move the gear selector lever to the rear position.

- Carefully prize away the gear selector lever cover panel together with the boot until the two clips release. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool. Pull the panel up until the four clips at the sides release.

- Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.

- Engage the handbrake and move the gear selector lever towards the rear.
- Rotate the panel to the left for better access.
- Remove the two screws holding the bracket with the radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console.

Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the centre console and the short side of the dashboard environment panel.
- Pull the dashboard environment panel downward maintaining the same angle and remove the dashboard environment panel. The panel is well secured, so some force is required to detach the panel. Unplug the connectors on the reverse side, and place the dashboard environment panel to one side.
Note! If any of the outer hooks break off, these must be repaired. The method for this can be found in the Workshop Manual in the section about the dashboard.

Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Remove the bracket with dashboard environment panel and the radio from the centre console: Pull the lower edge out and downwards until it releases from the mounting at the upper edge. Then fold backwards.
Note! Do not damage the removed components or the surrounding panels. If necessary, the panel around the gear selector lever can be removed for additional space. The panel is secured with four catches on the underside along the boot.
- Unplug the connectors from the radio and dashboard environment panel, and from the telephone keypad if applicable. Place the unit to one side.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Remove the screws from the bracket for the radio.
- Pull out the bracket with the radio. Pull the lower corner while pressing downwards.
- Unplug the connectors from the radio and the telephone keypad if applicable, and remove the bracket with the radio.
Applies to all models
- Remove the side panel (1) on the centre console. First twist the clip at the rear edge of the panel a 1/4 turn anticlockwise. Pull the rear edge of the panel outwards and backwards.
- Remove the sill trim panel (2).
- Fold the left-hand rear seat cushion (1) and backrest (2) forward.
- Remove the sill moulding for the left-hand rear door.
- Remove the left-hand side cushion by pulling the upper edge backwards and lifting it slightly upwards.
- Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the storage compartment under the rear floor hatch by turning the clips on the right-hand and left-hand sides 90°. Lift out the compartment.
- Remove the left-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment and place it to one side, there is a new panel in the kit.
- Remove the left-hand front side panel. Remove the cover and the screw from the front edge.
- Pull the top edge of the panel out until the clips release.
- Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out.
- Place the panel to one side. There is a new panel in the kit.
- Take the DIN cable from the kit, lift up the floor carpet and route it underneath, up between the front air duct (1) and the strut (2) for the centre console.
Note! Make sure that it is the connector with a guide pin which points upward (see illustration), which is routed to the radio socket.
- Route the cable through the compartment for the radio.
- Clamp the cable in the strut, using the clamp (3) from the kit.
- Route the cable on above and alongside the front air duct to the member (4) for the seat mounting.
- Clamp the cable at the existing cable harness (5).
- Route the cable (1) under the carpet, along the left-hand side of the car to the rear door.
- Route the cable further under and along the front cable duct (2). Continue along the right-hand side of the rear cable duct (3).
- Route the DIN cable on the right-hand side of the cable duct (2), under its cables, up along the top of the wheel arch and to the left-hand side of the rear crossmember as illustrated.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Take the power supply cable for the Jukebox from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the front ground terminal (1) in the rear seat. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.).
- Route the power supply cable on the right-hand side of the air duct (2), under its cables, up along the top of the wheel arch and to the left-hand side of the cargo floor support and position the red/white (R/W) single cables and the two green connectors by the rear fuse holder.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Take the cable (1) for power supply from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the existing ground terminal behind the battery. Tighten the screw. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.). Position the cable end with the two red/white (R/W) single cables and the two green connectors (2) by the rear fuse holder.
- Route the cable harness on the left-hand side of the cargo floor support.
- Roll together the excess cable and clamp it neatly together with a tie strap from the kit.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Remove the fuse holder. Open the lock (1) on the top of the fuse holder. Fold the fuse box holder forward. Lift it out of the mountings (2).
- Remove the black insulation panel (3), which is secured by five clips. This will not be used again. A new panel is in the kit.
- Remove the small insulation panel behind the fuse holder and place the panel to one side. It will not be used again.
- Position both green connectors on the short cables and the red/white (R/W) single cable with the smaller cable terminal, backwards along the cable. Insulate and secure them by the cable with foam tape from the kit so that they do not make contact with the chassis. The single cable with the larger cable terminal and the long cable with green connector must be loose.
- Connect the routed red/white cable to the outer position (1) on the reverse side of fuse socket 10 on the fuse holder. Remove the decal (2). Carefully prize up the red secondary catch on the end face of the end closest to position 10 at the same time as the cable is pressed into place.
Hint: If there is a problem in routing the cable there then the fuses on the outer side must be removed so that the red secondary cable can be opened further.
- Reinstall the decal.
- Install a 10A fuse in fuse socket 10 on the fuse holder.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Press in the catch on the rear brown connector in the cargo compartment fuse holder. Turn up the lock arm as far as possible and pull out the connector.
- Carefully prise apart the sides of the connector holder in the ends so that the connector can pass by the retaining hooks.
- Pull out the connector.
- Position both green connectors and the red/white (R/W) single cable with the larger cable terminal, backwards along the cable. Insulate and secure them by the cable with foam tape from the kit so that they do not make contact with the chassis. The single cable with the smaller cable terminal and the long cable with green connector must be loose.
- Connect the routed red/white (R/W) cable in position 8 in the connector.
- Reinstall the connector in the holder and reinstall the whole unit in the fuse holder.
- Take the bracket, Jukebox, M4 screws, plate washers, plastic sleeves, plastic washers and M4 nuts from the kit.
- Install the Jukebox in the bracket and tighten as illustrated.
- Take the adapter cable from the kit and connect in the corresponding socket in the rear edge of the Jukebox.
Note! Make sure that the cable on the smaller connector is on the top inside the larger connector to the jukebox as illustrated.
- Connect the long cable with green connector and DIN cable to the adapter cable on the Jukebox.
- Connect the brown ground cable (1) with matching cable on the jukebox.
- Collect any excess cable and clamp it in by the existing cable harnesses by the fuse holder with a tie strap from the kit.
- Remove the M6 screw (1) in the left-hand cargo floor support.
- Take two screws from the kit and the removed M6 screw and tighten the bracket with Jukebox to the body. Torque tighten the M8 screws to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.) and the M6 screw to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.).
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Take the new insulation panel from the kit, thread it over the brackets to the fuse holder and install it in the correct position.
- Secure it with the clip (1) from the kit.
- Reinstall the fuse holder.
- Cut away a piece of the insulation panel for a cut-out for the bracket on the new folding panel as illustrated.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Take the radio to the radio compartment and connect the Digital Jukebox DIN cable and other connectors to the radio.
- Plug in the connectors for the phone keypad, if applicable.
- Reinstall the bracket with the radio. Tighten the bracket and radio using the screws (1).
- Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel. Reinstall the dashboard environment panel.
- Reinstall the panel in front of the gear selector lever.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Plug in the Digital Jukebox connector, and other connectors to the radio.
- Plug in the connectors for the dashboard environment panel.
- Plug in the connectors for the phone keypad, if applicable.
- Reinstall the unit with radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console. Tighten with the two screws.
- Reinstall the panel around the gear selector lever
Applies to all models
- Fold back the carpet by the front seat.
- Reinstall the centre console side panel and the sill trim panels.
- Reinstall the side cushion in the rear seat.
- Fold back the rear seat and backrest.
- Turn the ignition key to position II.
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
- Install the new left-hand side panel and the new folding panel from the kit.
- Reinstall the storage compartment and both floor hatches.
Check that the system is working.
- Install the memory unit (DMS) in the Jukebox.
- Switch on the radio and select the 10-CD changer.
Note! The first time the system is started it takes approx. 30 seconds before it is operational.
- Check that the parts shown in the illustration are in the storage compartment supplied with the Jukebox, and that this is positioned as illustrated:

Applies to cars which are equipped with RTI, TV tuner, Sirius or RTI/satellite preparation
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- On cars with manual gearbox: Remove the ignition key.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

- Fold the left-hand rear seat cushion (1) and backrest (2) forward.
- Remove the left-hand side cushion by pulling the upper edge backwards and lifting it slightly upwards.
- Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the storage compartment under the rear floor hatch by turning the clips on the right and left-hand sides 90°.
- Lift out the compartment.
- Remove the left-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the left-hand front side panel. Remove the cover and the screw from the front edge.
- Pull the top edge of the panel out until the clips release.
- Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Remove the clip (1) in the insulation panel and fold the panel aside, so that the DVD drive is uncovered.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Remove the clips (1) in the insulation cover to the DVD drive and remove it.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Take the cable harness for power supply from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the rear ground terminal (1) under the seat cushion. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.).
- Route the power supply cable on the right-hand side of the air duct (2), under its cables, up along the top of the wheel arch and to the left-hand side of the cargo floor support and position the red/white (R/W) single cables and the two green connectors by the rear fuse holder.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Take the cable (1) for power supply from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the existing ground terminal behind the battery. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.).
- Position the cable end with the two red/white (R/W) single cables and the two green connectors (2) by the rear fuse holder.
- Route the cable harness on the left-hand side of the cargo floor support.
- Roll together the excess cable and clamp it neatly together with a tie strap from the kit.
- Remove the two screws (1) in the DVD drive bracket and remove the bracket with DVD drive.
- Unplug the power supply connector (1) to the DVD unit.
- Take the bracket, Jukebox, M4 screws, plate washers, plastic sleeves, plastic washers and M4 nuts from the kit.
- Install the Jukebox in the bracket and tighten as illustrated.
- Take the adapter cable from the kit and connect in the corresponding socket in the rear edge of the Jukebox.
Connecting in the DVD unit, TV tuner or Sirius unit
- Position the single cables in the routed cable harness backwards along the cable. Insulate and secure them by the cable with foam tape from the kit. The three green connectors must be loose.

- Plug in the connector (1) previously detached from the DVD unit to one connector (2) in the cable harness to the Jukebox power supply.
- Plug in the other connector (3) for the Jukebox power supply to the DVD unit.
- Connect the remaining green connector (4) in the cable harness for the Jukebox power supply, to the connector (6, Illustration B) in the Jukebox adapter cable.
- Connect the short DIN cable (5) from the kit between the DVD unit and the Jukebox adapter cable (7, Illustration B). (For cars with TV or Sirius unit, it is behind the rear backrests, the DIN cable must be connected to this instead. Illustration C).
- Plug in any remaining connectors detached from the DVD drive.
Applies to cars - 2004
- Check if there is a 10 A fuse in position 10 in the rear electronic module (REM).

- Reinstall and tighten the DVD drive with bracket above the left-hand wheel arch. Make sure that no cables are trapped.
- Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Secure the wiring behind the wheel arch. Use tie straps from the kit.
Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004 (V70 CH -458999, XC70 CH -172999)
- Reinstall the insulation cover with the two clips over the DVD drive.
Applies to cars from model year 2005- (V70 CH 459000-, XC70 CH 173000-)
- Fold back the insulation panel and secure it with the clip.
- Remove the M6 screw (1) in the left-hand cargo floor support.
- Take two screws from the kit and the removed M6 screw and tighten the bracket with Jukebox to the body. Torque tighten the M8 screws to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.) and the M6 screw to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft.).
- Cut away a piece of the insulation panel for a cut-out for the bracket on the folding panel as illustrated.
- Reinstall the side bolster.
- Reinstall the seat cushion and backrest.
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
- Reinstall the storage compartment and floor hatches.
Check that the system is working.
- Install the memory unit (DMS) in the Jukebox.
- Switch on the radio and select the 10-CD changer.
Note! The first time the system is started it takes approx. 30 seconds before it is operational.
