Checking the SRS indicator lamp

Erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)

Hint: Sometimes only the SRS indicator lamp may light if the SRS control module has registered a collision.




- Ignition on.




- Erase diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
This will take at least 20 seconds.

Reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)








Note! Corrective action must be taken if the battery lead has been disconnected during fault-tracing. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) by clicking on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Note any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) should be stored. The SRS indicator lamp must be off.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) not stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during repair work.
Check that all connectors and components have been correctly connected.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during incorrectly performed repair work
Check that fault-tracing has been carried out correctly according to the relevant fault-tracing instructions.
It is possible to interrupt or make a new attempt to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

- Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been correctly erased and not restored.

Fault-tracing information

Conditions
- A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the on-board diagnostic system registers a fault in any of the internal functions of the control modules.

Fault cause
- Internal fault in the SRS control module.

Fault symptom
- The SRS indicator lamp is lit.

Warning! There is a risk that the SRS system will not function if this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored.

Note! In the event of an internal fault, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) must not be erased. The SRS control module must be returned to Volvo. See standard procedures.

Replacing and programming the SRS control module
The SRS control module has registered an internal fault.

Note! A new SRS control module is delivered without software. The control module must be programmed in order to function after replacement.
