Signal Too High or Signal Missing. Permanent Fault

Signal too high or Signal missing. Permanent fault

Checking wiring and connectors
Check the resistance of the fuel level sensor (right-hand side). The resistance across each sensor may vary between 12 ohms (full fuel tank) and 383 ohms (empty fuel tank).

Hint: The resistance of the right-hand side fuel level sensor can be measured between fuel level sensor connector terminals #7 and #6. The resistance of the left-hand side fuel level sensor can be measured between fuel level sensor connector terminals #5 and #6.

Check the cables and connections between connector terminal #7 for the fuel level sensors and rear electronic module (REM) terminal #A08 (#A8). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the ground lead between control module terminal #A10 (#A10) and fuel level sensor connector terminal #6. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cables between the left and right fuel level sensors. Check for an open-circuit.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.

- Ignition off.
- Install the components, connect the connectors, etc.
- Make sure there are more than two litres of fuel in the right tank half.
- Ignition on.
Read the fuel level in the right tank half.
