Checking the signal cable
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector from the central electronic module (CEM)
- Disconnect the 6-pin connector from the stepper motor.
Check the signal cables between:
- central electronic module (CEM) terminal #6A and stepper motor terminal #2
- central electronic module (CEM) terminal #7A and stepper motor terminal #3
- central electronic module (CEM) terminal #11A and stepper motor terminal #4
- central electronic module (CEM) terminal #12A and stepper motor terminal #5.
check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If there is an open-circuit, also check connector 54/3 for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the ground lead between:
- 6-pin connector on the cable harness terminal #6 and ground.
check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

- Disconnect the 6-pin connector from the stepper motor.
Check the resistance between:
- the connector from the stepper motor terminals #5 and #6, approximately 22 ohms
- the connector from the stepper motor terminals #4 and #6, approximately 22 ohms
- the connector from the stepper motor terminals #3 and #6, approximately 22 ohms
- the connector from the stepper motor terminals #2 and #6, approximately 22 ohms.
Replace the stepper motor if the value deviates from the listed value.
