Signal too high. Permanent fault

Checking the generator (GEN) and battery




- Ignition off
- Connect the breakout box to the central electronic module (CEM)
- Start the engine.
Check the 30-supply to central electronic module (CEM) terminal #3E (breakout box terminal #B23) and terminal #6E (breakout box terminal #B26). The voltage must not exceed 15 volts at 2,000 rpm.
Also check that the battery is not over-charging.
Remedy as necessary.

Was the function OK?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the component

Replacing the component
Replace the charge regulator on the generator (GEN).
Start the engine and wait for at least 1 minute. Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the component

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.








- Ignition off.
- Connect connectors, install components, etc.
- Start the engine.
Check that diagnostic trouble code status changes from permanent to intermittent.
