Faulty Signal. Permanent Fault
Faulty signal. Permanent fault
Checking the connectors
- Ignition off.
- Check the ABS control module and pressure build-up valve connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Activation function to activate the pressure build-up valve.
The status should alternate between OFF / ON.
Other information:
- To remove the control module connector, see Replacing ABS / DSTC (dynamic stability and traction control) control module Replacing ABS / DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) Control Module.
Does the status change between OFF and ON?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Checking wiring and sensors
-------------------------------------------------
Checking wiring and sensors
Check the wiring between the pressure build-up valve terminal:
- terminal #3 and control module terminal #1 (terminal #A1)
- terminal #4 and control module terminal #17 (terminal #A17)
for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Hint: Check the pressure build-up valve with the ignition off, the ABS control module disconnected and the breakout box connected. Measure the resistance between terminals #1 and #17 on the breakout box. The resistance should be approximately 3 ohms.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the ABS/DSTC breakout box Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters.
- To replace the pressure build-up valve (power brake booster), see Replacing the power brake booster (DSTC) Replacing the Power Brake Booster (DSTC) for a right-hand drive car, see Replacing the power brake booster (DSTC) Replacing the Power Brake Booster (DSTC).
- For information about signals, see Signal specification, ABS / DSTC (dynamic stability and traction control) control module Signal Specification.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
- Use the "Activation" function to activate the pre-pressure valve.
Its status should change between OFF/ON.

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
