Signal Outside Its Permitted Range
Signal outside its permitted range
Checking the connectors
- Ignition off
- Check the connectors on the anti-lock brake system module (ABS) and the yaw rate sensors for contact resistance and oxidation.
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the present value.
The reading should be approximately 2.5 V.

Checking wiring and sensors
- Ignition off
Check the connectors and yaw rate sensors 1 and 2 for damage. Check that yaw rate sensors 1 and 2 are correctly installed and that the bracket is secured.
Hint: Check the yaw rate sensors by measuring the signal to the sensors with the ignition switched on:
For yaw rate sensor 1 between:
- terminals #42 and #27 on the breakout box. The voltage must be 2.5 V
- terminals #11 and #27 on the breakout box. The voltage must be approximately 5 V.
For yaw rate sensor 2 between:
- terminals #14 and #45 on the breakout box. The voltage must be approx. 2.5 V.
- terminals #30 and #45 on the breakout box. The voltage must be approximately 5 V.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
- Check that the ABS warning lamp lights and goes out after approximately 2 seconds. If the lamp does not go out, the fault has not been rectified.
- Test-drive the car as described in Test driving Test Driving.
Check the ABS warning lamp during the test drive. If the warning lamp lights, return to the workshop and read the diagnostic trouble codes.

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
