Signal Too Low - Permanent Fault

Checking Component And Wiring

Check the brake pedal sensor resistance between #2 and #4, for resistance values see Component Specifications.

Check the signal cable between engine control module (ECM) #B16 and brake pedal sensor #2 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals, Permanent faults and an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals, Permanent faults.

Remedy as necessary.

Other information
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box (under Scan Tool Connecting).
- To access/replace the brake pedal sensor, see Pedal sensor power brake booster, replacing.
- For information about signals on 5-cylinder engines, see Signal Specification (under Diagnostic Parameters and Pinout Values).
- For information about signals on 6-cylinder engines, see Signal Specification (under Diagnostic Parameters and Pinout Values).
- With the ignition on and brake pedal sensor connector disconnected, voltage between brake pedal sensor #1 (engine control module (ECM) side) and ground should be approximately 5 V.

Continue with Test (Verification - Permanent). Verification - Permanent
