Communication with control module





Power latch. 1993 model only
In 1993 models, the control module has a built-in function called Power latch. This is used to prevent too much fuel getting into the engine and flooding it when repeatedly trying to start.
The control module switches to Power latch 4 minutes after the engine stops. No serial communication is possible during this time. For example, when taking the car into the workshops, it will be four minutes before serial communications can start.

Other conditions for communication. All models
Before communication between VIDA and Fenix 5.2 control module can start, the ignition must be off.
Communication is then being initiated by VIDA cart when instrument is activated, i.e. when clicking on the Volvo System Tester symbol on the screen.
After activation of instrument, ignition must be switched on. However, the ignition must have been off for at least 3 seconds.
When ignition is switched on, communication between VIDA and Fenix 5.2 control module will be established. Ignition must be switched on within 180 seconds from the time the instrument was activated. Otherwise a time-out will occur.
