Activating Test Mode
Activating TEST MODE
Information
TEST MODE is a function that makes it easier to provoke a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The function lowers the criteria for how fast the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the control module. Test driving when checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) is much easier.
Use the diagnostic trouble code's frozen values to get information about current conditions when the diagnostic trouble code was generated. Select Diagnostics/Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Then choose "Frozen values". Adapt the test drive to replicate the conditions when the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were stored.
Note! Extended diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information must be read off before any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are erased. The information is erased at the same time as the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) before activating TEST MODE. Any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) which are stored must be fault-traced according to the accompanying information and then erased.

Checking the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Ignition on.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Select "Continue" if no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored.
If diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the transmission are stored select Cancel and fault-trace according to the accompanying information.
Note! Extended diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information must be read off before any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are erased. The information is erased at the same time as the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Checking the software
Note! TEST MODE assumes that the gearbox control module (TCM) is programmed with specific software.
- Ignition on.
- Read off the control module diagnostic number.
Check the read-out diagnostic number against the diagnostic numbers that are included in the middle table.
If the diagnostic number is included in the table, the control module must be programmed with the latest software.
Select the tab Software and reprogram the control module with the latest software.
See the technical journal for information about the most recent software.

Activating TEST MODE
- Connect the VIDA station.
- Start the engine.
- Gear selector in position P.
- Activate TEST MODE.
Note! Do not switch off the engine. With the ignition off the control module returns to the normal function.
- Disconnect the VIDA station. Test drive the car. See Test drive schedule, description Test Drive Form, Description.
Hint: Test-drive, if possible, according to frozen values that were read out in Reading out increased diagnostic trouble code information, Transmission control module (TCM).
Caution! Please observe traffic regulations.
Note! Before test driving, the transmission fluid should be at operating temperature, approximately 80-90 °C.
Other information
- To check and adjust the transmission fluid level, see Oil level, checking.
Do you wish to read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) after the test drive?
