Brake Disc Front, Replacement

Preparations
Remove wheel.
Removing brake caliper and brake pads
- Remove retaining spring (3) carefully so as not to deform it.
- Remove protective caps (1) from the two locating pins (2).
- Remove both locating pins, using 7 mm (0.276 inches) hexagonal socket.
- Remove brake caliper carefully from mounting so as not to damage brake hose.
- Remove brake pads.
- Hang brake caliper from a steel wire from the front spring so as not to damage hose.
NOTE: Do not depress brake pedal while brake pad is removed.
Removing brake disc
- Remove both caliper mounting bolts and remove mounting.
- Remove locating pins (and bolt on earlier models).
- Remove brake disc.
Cleaning and checking
NOTE: Cleaning is important to prevent lateral run-out in brake disc.
- Make sure that hub flange is clean. Remove rust with a steel blade and steel brush.
- Check hub.
- If hub is damaged, measure hub lateral run-out.
Installing brake disc
NOTE: Handle new brake disc with care. Careless handling can cause damage (e.g. twisting).
- Install new brake disc. Tighten locating pins (and bolt) to 8 Nm (6 ft.lb).
- Install caliper mounting with new mounting bolts. Tighten both mounting bolts to 100 Nm (75 ft.lb).
