Replacing the security straps between the convertible top ribs

Removing the security straps between the convertible top ribs

Remove:
- the textile headlining
- the textile outer roof.




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.





Remove:
- 1 screw for the end mounting at the front cross member
- the Velcro strip for the wiring
- the 2 screws securing the security straps to each rib
- the molding for the tension bow holding the security strap
- the 2 screws in the tension bow that secure the security strap
- the security strap.
Replace the security strap.

Hint: Keep the old security strap. This will make it easier to mark the position of the screws.

Installing the security straps between the convertible top ribs




Mark the positions for the screws. Use the old security strap or proceed as follows:
A = 501.9 mm.
B = 339.5 mm.
C = 366.1 mm.
D = 263.9 mm.
E = 71.2 mm.
F = 439.0 mm.

Install
- the 2 screws for the security strap in the tension bow. Tension the strap
- the molding for the tension bow holding the security strap
- the screws securing the security straps to the ribs
- the Velcro strip for the wiring
- 1 screw for the end mounting at the front cross member
- the textile outer roof according to Replacing the textile roof Replacing the Textile Roof
- the textile headlining in reverse order according to Replacing the textile roof Replacing the Textile Roof.
