Checking The Control Module
Checking the control module
Checking the fault cause
Check the fault cause corresponding to the symptoms. One of the following alternatives may occur:
1. A used immobilizer control module has been installed in the car.
2. A used engine control module (ECM) has been installed in the car.
3. Neither alternative 1 or 2 matches the circumstances.
Which alternative applies?
1 - Replacing the component
2 - Replacing the component
3 - No Fault Found
-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
Hint: If the problem occurred when installing a used immobilizer control module, the engine control module (ECM) does not recognize the VIN code. For technical reasons used immobilizer control modules cannot be used for repairs.
If the immobilizer control module needs to be replaced. Replace the control module according to Replacing immobilizer control module Replacing Immobilizer Control Module. Initialize the control module according to Initiate the immobilizer control module. Initiate the Immobilizer Control Module.

-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
Hint: An engine control module (ECM) that communicates with the immobilizer using the VIN (applies to DENSO, ME7 and MSA 15.8 engine management systems), cannot be transferred from one car to another. The VIN code in the engine control module (ECM) will not correspond with the VIN code in the immobilizer.
Try a new engine control module (ECM).

Hint: After repair check to see that the repair is verified and that the fault is corrected as follows:
Start the engine and let it idle.
Does the engine start?
Yes - VERIFIED
No - VERIFICATION FAILED

Information
Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit fault-tracing
No - Attempt New Test
