Checking vehicle speed signal




- Ignition off.
- Lift car so that the front wheels hang free (on AWD rear wheels as well) and remove the wheels.
- Engine idling.
- Select a gear so the front wheels start to rotate.
- Read off the value for speed.
Check vehicle speed signal

Note! Ensure that the wheels are not rotating when the gear selector is moved.





Is the value for speed updated?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Check, connectors and cable

Check the RTI control module and combined instrument panel connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between the control module #B3 and combined instrument panel terminal A7 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:












- Ignition off.
- Lift car so that the front wheels hang free (on AWD rear wheels as well) and remove the wheels.
- Engine idling.
- Select a gear so the front wheels start to rotate.
- Read off the value for speed.
