Replacing Control Module Security Strap

Replacing control module security strap

HINT: On a number of variants, as part of the anti-theft protection on cars with immobilizer, the control module box is locked with a security strap. The locking strip is installed with a security screw.

Removal

- Mark up the center of the screw and drill a suitable hole for a screw puller. Insert screw puller and remove the screw.
- Remove security strap which is routed over the control module.
- Clean the control module box cover carefully so that no dirt or residue falls into the box when it is opened.

Installation

CAUTION: Before reinstalling the security strap, ensure that the car has been repaired and that no faults remain.

- Ensure that the slot on the underside of the control module is in the correct position, and secure it by hooking on the strap.
- Fold up security strap over the control module box cover.
- Secure the locking strip by tightening the security screw (P/N 980471-7) so that its head breaks off.
