Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The automatic transmission checks whether the lock-up solenoid is engaged or slipping by comparing the speed signal from the transmission speed sensor with the actual transmission speed (RPM) at the transmission. The signals should "show" the same calculated speed (RPM). The control module also compares the transmission speed signal with engine speed (RPM). The speed should then be greater or less than the transmission speed depending on the gear selected. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-002F is stored if the control module detects that vehicle speed and transmission speed signals do not correspond with the estimated values which means that the lock-up solenoid SL is slipping or is not engaged.

Substitute value
- The transmission control module (TCM) " Emergency mode I" program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Mechanical fault in the transmission.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- No lock-up function
- Harsh gear shifting.

Hint: Harsh shifting - may be caused by disabled adjustment of gear slippage times at high altitude (High Altitude Compensation).
