Checking status




- Ignition off.
Read off the battery voltage.
Move the seat with the control buttons.





Battery voltage must be over 11 V.

OK - Too low. Intermittent fault

Not OK - Intermittent fault

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the 4-pin connector A from the control module.
Connect a voltmeter between connector A, terminal 1, and ground.









The voltmeter should read battery voltage.

OK - No Fault Found

Not OK - Checking fuses

- Ignition off.
- Remove automatic fuse 11/39 for the left seat and automatic fuse 11/40 for the right seat.
Connect an ohmmeter and check that the automatic fuse is intact.









Is the fuse intact?

Yes - Checking the +30-supply before the fuse

No - Replacing the component

Replace with a new fuse. Fault-trace according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Ignition off.
Connect a voltmeter between the right / rear socket at fuses 39 and 40 and ground.





The voltmeter should read battery voltage.

OK - Checking the +30-supply after the fuse

Not OK - Checking for an open-circuit

Check the cable between the battery positive terminal and the fuse holder for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Checking the +30-supply after the fuse








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the 4-pin connector A from the seat control module.
Connect an ohmmeter between connector A terminal 1 (green / red cable) and the fuse socket.









The ohmmeter should read 0 ohms.

OK - Checking ground lead

Not OK - Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation

Check the cable between the battery and the 4-pin connector terminal A:1 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. See Wiring diagram 850 for the relevant model year.

- 4-pin connector A disconnected.
Connect an ohmmeter between the 4-pin connector A terminal 3 (black cable) and ground.









The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms.

OK - Replacing the component

the +30-supply and the ground cable for the control module are fault-free.
Try a new control module according to Control module Control Module.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows.








- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect 4-pin connector A from the control module.
Connect a voltmeter between positions 1 and 3 in connector A.









Voltmeter should read battery voltage.

OK - VERIFIED

Not OK - VERIFICATION FAILED

Checking wiring and connectors
Check the 4-pin connector A for contact resistance and oxidation in accordance with Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the 24/14 connector (engine compartment harness - left threshold plate harness) for contact resistance and oxidation in accordance with Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults. See Wiring diagrams 850 for the model year in question.
Check wiring between control module, position A:1 (green/red lead), and the battery positive terminal for intermittent open-circuit in accordance with Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.









Press "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.
